Finally, I have finalised my report by adding three new sections: 'Implementing Changes in NX and TIA-Portal,' 'Analysis and Results,' and 'Conclusion. These sections offer insights into the implementation process, the outcomes of various testing phases, and future considerations.
The 'Implementation of Changes in NX and TIA-Portal' section outlines the practical adjustments made to the MPS station model in NX software. It details the addition of components like excess pieces slides and robotic arms, along with the corresponding modifications in TIA-Portal code. These changes aim to simulate real-life enhancements, such as improving workflow efficiency and handling excess materials effectively.
In 'Analysis and Results,' the report evaluates the effectiveness of the implemented changes through iterative testing phases. It discusses the evolution of the production line system, highlighting improvements in throughput, resource utilization, and cost-effectiveness. This section showcases the impact of each modification on system performance and lays the groundwork for financial analysis.
The 'Conclusion and Future Works' section offers a comprehensive overview of the project's significance and implications. It reflects on the journey from identifying bottlenecks to implementing solutions using digital twin technology. Additionally, it suggests future avenues for research, such as real-life implementation of proposed changes, further analysis of robotic arm efficiency, and exploring alternative production line systems. It also acknowledges the limitations of the project.
One more thing worth mentioning is that I have used the default parts of plant simulation instead of importing the actual workpieces and lids. I encountered constant errors when attempting to exchange graphics. However, this decision did not impact the model's behavior, as it operated under the same logic as it would with the proper components. This could have been due to compatibility issues with the software version.
Overall I have completed this project with success. It provided my with copious knowledge and skills that I will apply in my future careers. Moreover, the completion of Plant Simulation course on Siemens Xcelerator Academy has greatly benefitted me and allowed me to delve into the realm of Digital Twin technology and it is utilised by companies and manufacturers all over the world.
Thank you Mehnaz and Alex for your continuous support and guidance throughout this project!
