While exploring strategies employed by companies to promote reusing and recycling, I looked at Coca-Cola's initiatives. As part of this investigation, I examined how they utilise technology, such as robotic arms or human workers, in their recycling and reuse programs. As the largest beverage manufacturer globally, Coca-Cola operates in over 200 countries, facing challenges related to increased plastic usage in its bottled beverages. To combat this, Coca-Cola introduced a comprehensive recycling program for all cans and bottles sold within its system. Despite the bottles being 100% recyclable, not all are recycled, prompting Coca-Cola to strive for a 25% recycled content in its plastic bottles, with a long-term goal of achieving 100% recycling. This commitment extends to making packaging more sustainable and promoting recycling practices among consumers.

Additionally, Coca-Cola plans to launch a reuse program encouraging customers to return or refill their bottles, aligning with its broader sustainability objectives. While it's not yet clear whether this will involve the use of robotic arms or human workers, the program aims to set up collection points where consumers can return empty Coca-Cola bottles or cans for cleaning and refilling. By refilling used bottles or cans, consumers contribute to reducing plastic waste while conserving resources. These initiatives showcase Coca-Cola's dedication to sustainability and reducing plastic pollution, while also potentially leading to cost savings and operational enhancements. By using fewer resources to provide the same products for consumers, Coca-Cola demonstrates its commitment to efficiency and environmental stewardship.
